‘I was once the next Giggs…’ Top prospect emerges as Saudi Pro League target

Adnan Januzaj, once touted as Giggs’ successor, could be headed to Saudi Arabia.

‘Former Manchester United wonderkid Adnan Januzaj could be heading to the Saudi Professional League,’ the soccer publication Sports Bible reported on March 30 (KST).

‘Januzaj has three years left on his current contract with Sevilla, but is attracting interest from the Saudis,’ the report said. Januzaj currently plays for Sevilla. He spent last season on loan at Turkkiye Basakşehir FK.

However, he has yet to take the field in a Sevilla shirt this season. According to reports, Sevilla need to free up funds to sign a center back and a defensive midfielder. Sevilla are currently at the bottom of the league, having lost three straight games since the start of the Spanish La Liga season. 먹튀검증

In the past, Januzaj has been targeted by Manchester United. He was monitored by David Moyes in the 2013/14 season and made his league debut against Crystal Palace. He then made his senior debut in a league match against Sunderland.

Januzaj made a name for himself with a string of multi-goal performances. In his debut season, he scored five goals and provided eight assists in 35 games. With his unique dribbling and left-footed ability, Januzaj was touted as the next ace to replace “Man United legend” Ryan Giggs.

Perhaps he was thrust into the limelight too early, but his performances didn’t follow suit. He wasn’t given as many chances as he thought he would, and he didn’t show much in his limited appearances.

Eventually, Januzaj went on loan to Borussia Dortmund, Sunderland, and other clubs in search of playing time, but it didn’t pay off. In the 2017/18 season, he joined Real Sociedad after his contract with United ended. His performances were decent, but nagging injuries hampered him.

He moved to Sevilla ahead of last season, but only made six appearances in the first half of the campaign. He decided to go on loan to Basakşehir FK for a second chance. In 17 games for Turkkiye, he scored three goals and provided three assists.

Once dubbed the next Giggs, Januzaj’s talents never really blossomed. Januzaj is now 28 years old. He’s still in his prime, but he’s been sold by his team. Now, only Saudi Arabia is interested in him.
