Japan red-flagged for round of 16…91st minute theater goal to Israel drops them to 3rd place

Japan’s path to the round of 16 has been red-lighted.

The Japan Under-20 National Team fell 1-2 to Israel in the third match of Group C of the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2023 at Estadio Malvinas Argentina in Mendoza, Argentina, at 6:00 a.m. ET on Monday. The result drops Japan to third place with one win and two losses (3 points), while Israel improves to second place with one win, one draw and one loss (4 points) and advances to the Round of 16 in dramatic fashion.
