‘Junior champion turned quarterfinalist’ Kasatkina reaches French Open round of 16…strong on clay

Daria Kasatkina (No. 9-RUSSIA), who finished fourth at last year’s French Open, her best major finish, is the first player to reach the round of 16 in the women’s singles.

Third-seeded Jessica Pegula (No. 3-USA) was knocked out in the third round by Eliezer Mertens (No. 28-Belgium), losing 0-2 (1-6 3-6).
