FC Seoul doesn’t mind the U-22 mandate in K League 1, as its youth policy has been successful in recent years. The first-team roster alone is full of young players, including Baek Jong-beom (22), Lee Han-beom (20), Kim Joo-sung (22), Lee Tae-seok (20), and Kim Shin-jin (21).

The same goes for the players who make the national team by age group.

FC Seoul has sent three players to the South Korean U-20 national team, including Kang Sung-jin (20), Lee Seung-jun (18), and Cho Young-kwang (19), the most of any current club, led by Kim Eun-jung, who is currently playing in Argentina.

Kim has led the team to the quarterfinals of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina for the second consecutive tournament.

In the quarterfinal match against Nigeria in Santiago del Estro, Argentina, on Sept. 5 (KST), South Korea withstood the Nigerian attack throughout regulation time to send the game into extra time, where Choi Seok-hyun (Dankook University) scored a header in the fifth minute of stoppage time to secure a dramatic semifinal victory.

Kang Sung-jin, Lee Seung-jun, and Cho Young-kwang didn’t make any significant contributions to the tournament, but they all contributed to the team with their consistent performances. Lee boasted accurate long passes and a wide range of vision, while Cho did his job as a defender. Kang Sung-jin left something to be desired in the offense.

Still, coach Ahn Ik-soo was proud to let them go.

“I should (contact them), but I’m not sure which is the right thing to do,” Ahn laughed when asked by the media before the Hana OneQ K League 2023 Round 17 away ‘Gyeongin Derby’ against Incheon United at the Incheon Football Stadium on July 7, if he had contacted the three players 메이저놀이터.

“I don’t know what’s the right thing to do. I’m always cheering in my heart. I watched the Nigeria game at 2:30 a.m., and even though it made me late for work the next day, I was clapping and enjoying myself.”

Meanwhile, Kim Eun Joong-ho, who traveled to La Plata, will face Italy, who defeated Colombia to advance to the semifinals, at 6 a.m. on Sept. 9 at La Plata Stadium.
