Korean women’s table tennis ace doubles pair Shin Yoo-bin (Korean Air) and Jeon Jeon-hee (Mirae Asset Securities), ranked No. 5, have advanced to the second round of the World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender Lagos ($75,000 prize pool).
Shin and Jeon swept the home team of Esther Obamise-Ajoke Ozomu (unranked) 3-0 (11-1 11-3 11-3) in the first round of the women’s doubles on day five of the tournament in Lagos, Nigeria.
After winning the women’s doubles silver medal at the 2023 World Table Tennis Championships last month, the first for South Korea in 36 years, Shin Yubin-Jeon Hee earned a narrow victory in their first international tournament since the World Championships.
They will face the Korean pair in the quarterfinals.

The Chinese pair of Zhang Wujin-Jeon Hee will also face a Chinese pair in the quarterfinals. They will face He Jiujia-Jiu Kai (unranked).
