“With a little more effort, it’s worth it”: Woori Bank head coach Satellite Woo on the Japan tour

The team came back with confidence despite the gap.

From August 1 to 9, Asan Woori Bank traveled to Nagoya, Japan for training. We played practice games with W-League teams such as Toyota and Mitsubishi to maximize our organizational strength. The team came back with a lot of confidence after playing against top teams 꽁머니.

“Japanese players are so good,” Woori Bank coach Lee Sat-woo said in a phone conversation. Ten years ago, we could win many matches except for the top teams, but now there are few teams we can beat. I think we’ve gotten weaker because Japan’s level has risen, but they’re not an opponent to emulate. I think we can do it if we work a little harder.”

In the offseason, Woori Bank made changes to its roster. Kim Jong-un, who became a free agent, left for Bucheon Hana OneQ, while Yoo Seung-hee was acquired in a trade with Incheon Shinhan Bank. They also brought in Myung-kwan Lee from Samsung Life Insurance in Yongin.

“(Lee) Myung-kwan had plantar surgery and couldn’t play in practice, and (Yoo) Seung-hee is still in the adjustment phase. He’s working hard to integrate into the team. She’s only been training with us for three months. He’s struggling, but he’s working hard.” This is Satellite’s assessment of Yoo Seung-hee.

Woori Bank won the overall title last season with a dominant performance. Although the team has changed, it will continue to carry its own colors.

“I think we should go similar to last season. There are no major changes in terms of positions. Nowadays, basketball is played with high speed. I’m trying to follow the trend of modern basketball rather than my own style.”

After returning from the training camp in Japan, Woori Bank will take a break until the 13th. After that, they will train in Changyudong to prepare for the Park Shinja Cup, which is scheduled for the end of August.

“Actually, we don’t have any players if the national team players are out. There are also injured players, so we don’t have many players available for training. We will have to train with the remaining players. We will focus on the season rather than the Park Shinjah Cup.”
