World No. 1 Ahn sets up China Open quarterfinal clash with world No. 4 Tai Ziying

South Korean women’s badminton standout Ahn Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance) will take on Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu-ying (TAI) on her way to her ninth win of the season.

World No. 1 Ahn Se-young came from behind to defeat No. 9 Han Yue (CHN) 2-1 (15-21 21-15 21-17) in the women’s singles quarterfinals of the 2023 Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 1000 China Open at the Changzhou Olympic Center in Changzhou, China on Monday (August 8).

Ahn will meet World No. 4 Tai Zhiying, who defeated World No. 6 Carolina Marin (Spain) 2-1 (21-17 10 -21 21-19), in the quarterfinals. Ahn leads their head-to-head record 8-2.

Ahn has won eight gold medals on the international stage this year, including titles at the All-England Open and World Championships, and will be aiming for gold at the Hangzhou Asian Games, which begin on March 23.

Ahn, who is attempting to win her fourth consecutive title, struggled early on in game one, committing back-to-back unforced errors. She fought back to 14-15, but eventually lost 15-21. However, her defense came alive in game two, shutting down her opponent’s attack and turning the tide with attacks from all corners of the court to take a 14-5 lead. In the final three games, they took advantage of a 10-10 tie to force their opponent into an error and went on an 18-12 run to clinch the match. 소닉카지노
